Vehicles in German Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Officers reported they were contacted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior official stated the incident rendered him without words and required to be resolved quickly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
