Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
